EVENT: Geocaching 101

Become part of the geo caching craze! Join us on August 8 at the visitor center as we offer a geocaching tutorial at the park. Participants will learn how to enter coordinates, set waypoints, and navigate using a GPS device. Participants will also search for geo caches hidden with in the park. CURE, Minnesota Master Naturalists (MMN), and the Chippewa County Historical Society with the support of the Chippewa Soil & Water Conservation District will team up to remove buckthorn at the Lac qui Parle Mission as part of the National Public Lands Day (NPLD) day of action. Join us for our third annual freshwater mussels field day where the Yellow Medicine River enters the Minnesota River with MN DNR malacologist, Bernard Sietman. You will be hard pressed to find anyone as passionate and as knowledgeable about mussels as this transplanted Missourian. Since 2002, he has worked across Minnesota surveying mussels.
