Say NO to Problematic Packaging!
Ask Your State Senator to make recycling easier for all Minnesotans!
Problematic and unnecessary packaging is filling our landfills, burning in our incinerators, and trashing our recycling system. This packaging adds unnecessary costs to our communities and pollutes our environment. The Packaging Waste and Cost Reduction Act (HF3577/SF3561) requires that by 2032, all packaging sold in Minnesota must be reusable, recyclable, or compostable. It does this by holding producers responsible for the impacts of packaging waste and incentivizing them to make much needed change to move away from using outdated single-use plastics and other wasteful materials. To help fund local recycling and waste reduction programs, manufacturers will pay a sliding-scale fee based on how compostable, reusable, or recyclable they make their packaging. By asking manufacturers to do their part, this bill would lead to less waste going into landfills or trash burners and increased recycling across Minnesota.
Please take a minute to contact your state senator to let them know you support the Packaging Waste and Cost Reduction Act.
