WHY YOU SHOULD ATTEND

Now is a unique political moment in our country and our state. From the elimination of DACA to travel bans to threats to our public healthcare programs, we see attack after attack on our communities. We hear a ‘rural reality’ narrative that is depressing and divisive. However, we also see people standing up, resisting, building relationships and community, supporting each other, and fighting for their families.

As we enter the next year, we have an opportunity to continue to tell our story and take action. As rural citizens, it is important to BE PRESENT to BE HEARD. Because we live away from governing and media centers other people often tell our story for us. However, that story is an incomplete picture—oversimplified and dumbed-down. This picture does not accurately represent the opportunities and challenges of rural America. Alone, none of us have the power to make the change we want to see. Together, we can accomplish so much more.

The People’s Assembly is our chance to come to together—rural and urban—with strong and diverse organizations from across Minnesota. Together we will wrestle with the challenges, assert our vision, and make a plan for a better Minnesota we ALL deserve.

We will be bold, visionary, hopeful, and connected.
We ALL belong in Minnesota.
We will be UNITED.
We will WIN governing power.
The journey starts now.
