CURE Book Club Feature: A Sand County Almanac and Sketches Here and There

March 4, 2014

Aldo Leapold's Book

“There are some who can live without wild things, and some who cannot. These essays are the delights and dilemmas of one who cannot.”  – Aldo Leopold

A Sand County Almanac will be the second in a series of books that will be presented in a “Book Club” fashion for CURE’s 2014 Events & Adventures Series.

This book has alot of potential for a variety of formats depending on interest. Participants may meet and discuss in person in Marshall, Granite Falls, Ortonville and the Twin Cities area or it can be done through a Facebook Group Page for Q & A as well as the possibility of integrating blog posts. We will be showing the movie “Green Fire” that documents the “Leopold” movement at our 2014 River History weekend in Granite Falls the first weekend of May. This will be an opportunity for all the people who read the book to gather and have an evening of discussion and environmental engagement around issues that correlate the book with a “placebased” discussion of the Minnesota River Watershed.

Reading for this book will begin mid February and finish in late March.

To purchase the book, click here. Check out this fact sheet about A Sand County Almanac.

For information on how to register, call the CURE office at 1-877-269-2873 or email . Participation in the Book Club is FREE for CURE members and $10 for non-members.
