EVENT: Dakota 38 + 2 Riders Presentation

December 18, 2015 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Dakota 38 + 2 Riders Presentation

Come and learn more about the Dakota Community and the annual ride that begins on December 9th in Lower Brule, SD and ends on December 26th in Mankato, MN. This 330 mile route takes 18 days to accomplish and the riders are out everyday in temperatures and weather that makes most of us stay indoors this time of year. Their endurance and commitment is amazing. The riders are assisted by both Native and Non-native communities that house and feed them along the way, and in the process they educated and share with everyone the history of 1862 and the impact on the Dakota communities both past and present.

The presentation will show clips of the documentary of their annual 330 mile journey as well as a few of the riders will be on hand to talk about the ride and answer questions.

Date: Friday December 18th, 2015
Time: 7 to 9pm
Free and open to the public.

This event is sponsored by SMSU Access Opportunity Success, the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, the Marshal-Lyon County Library and CURE (Clean Up the River Environment).
