CURE is once again joining the MN DNR Watertrails program “Paddle the MN River in a day” and will support three different stretches of the Minnesota River. For additional details of these paddles visit our CURE MN River Facebook page.
Skalbekken County Park to Vicksburg County Park will be led by Peg Furshong the CURE Events & Adventures Coordinator. This 13 mile paddle is in some of the most scenic part of the Minnesota River Valley. The paddle is for intermediate paddlers who can navigate rapids and paddle for 4 to 5 hours. To register for this leg of the river – Registration.
Kinney Landing to Skalbekken County Park is about 10 miles of scenic paddling that takes you right past the Upper Sioux Agency State Park. This paddle is for beginners and for someone who is able to paddle for 4 to 5 hours. To register for this leg of the river – Registration
Marsh Lake to Lac Qui Parle Lake (119 bridge) is about 9 miles and will detour to the Rookery on Marshal Lake. The trip leader for this paddle is CURE board member Brad Ferholz and his son Gavin. The highlight of this paddle is a detour to Minnesota’s largest pelican rookery – one of only two nesting colonies of white pelican in the state. To register for this leg of the river – Registration
Participants are encouraged to bring their own canoe or kayak. CURE does have a limited number of canoes and kayaks available by advance registration. The fee is $10 for CURE members with their own canoe or kayak and $35 per person for non-members and includes a CURE annual membership. Your fees help cover our costs for staff and shuttling.
